Hello all;
Sorry for the long time, no write! Hope your study day goes well and your finals are a huge success.
Things have been super busy here and I am working on bringing you a new and improved advising system that will allow you to look up more information on your own as well as increase the number of ways to get your Honors questions answered.
While I'm working on that, here are a few quick notes:
1. Dean Herron to speak at The Humanities Center Brown Bag Series TOMORROW, April 29
2. Commencement, May 7 and 8
3. Spring Honors 4200 Seminar
4. You could be our next Honors Peer Advisor!
5. Open Hours/Appointments with Liza
Happy Cramming, er, STUDYING!

3. Spring Honors 4200 Seminar
There are still plenty of seats available for the 8-week Spring Honors Seminar, HON 4200, CRN 32340. The instructor will be Professor John Pat Leary, discussing "City and Slum in the Americas."
The Honors Seminars are special topics courses open to students from all majors at the junior/senior level. The course is required to graduate with department and/or University Honors. The three credits count towards Honors credits.
There will be at least three fall Honors seminars, more information coming soon!

4. You could be our next Honors Peer Advisor!
We will have at least two openings for Peer Advisors starting in the Fall. If you are a current freshmen or sophomore who would be interested in joining our team, please drop off a copy of your fall schedule, an updated resume and a cover letter stating why you would want to work in Honors by May 29, 2009.
Honors Peer advisors staff the front desk as well as various Honors events, assist with mailings and other office tasks, and answer questions from fellow students, their parents, as well as campus faculty and staff. There will be a training day in August before the start of the Fall term.

5. Open Hours/Appointments with Liza
Many of you have e-mailed asking to set up an appointment to meet with me and as of right now, my end of semester appointments are booked. I have been called again to Jury Duty starting May 6, and I have several projects and meetings in the works before Freshman Orientation begins in June.
Therefore, I have decided to go completely to an open advising schedule on Mondays and Tuesdays (9 - noon, 1 - 4 pm), so I can devote more time to answering e-mail, training the peer advisors, holding group advising workshops and developing more self-help stuff for our website. If for some reason I am not available on a Monday or Tuesday, I will try to compensate with an additional open advising day later in the week.
If you are planning on traveling from off campus to come see please, you may want to first call the Honors office to see if I am available to see students: (313) 577-3030.
If you have sent me an e-mail in the past month, I am working diligently on getting back to you. Thank you for your patience! :)

As much as possible we will do our best to keep these broadcasts to a minimum for announcements that are not directly through Honors, but that we feel are excellent opportunities for our students. If you have any ideas, questions, or items for the weekly Honors Digest, please e-mail us at honors@wayne.edu
